Making Waves (Beach Lane #1)

As the responsible daughter of an irresponsible socialite, Dakota Hale has plenty of practice in catering to the rich and spoiled and she has turned that experience into a thriving concierge business serving the Hamptons'  wealthy elite. But living and working among the upper crust has never tempted Dakota to follow in her jet-setting mother's footsteps. Anytime the drama on land gets too outrageous, Dakota finds calm surfing the Atlantic waves. But when sexy mogul Max Carr hires her, it rocks her in a big way.
Max works hard but he's never put an effort into winning a woman over until now. With her stunning beauty and keen intelligence, Dakota is worth the effort. But it is plain she has no interest in a casual fling, and that's all Max with his grief-stricken heart can offer. But one fraught night changes everything, with consequences neither Dakota nor Max anticipated. Now they must navigate the rough waters of society gossip and devastating secrets that threaten their fragile relationship. If they can trust in the strength of their growing feelings, they'll find that the dreams they have been chasing are close enough to embrace...together.

Romance novels are not my usual forte. I prefer the psychological thrillers, the suspense, the historical fiction novels. Now, I can read a truer to life romance where they aren't always enamored with each other from the get-go, or they don't have the fairy-tale ending or the happily ever after. So this was a departure from my norm.
Wowzers, the sexual scenes was a lot steamier than I am used to reading anymore. Steamy enough to make the wallpaper peel.
Dakota is a self-made woman. She has always been more of the caretaker of her mother as Piper is too busy jet-setting and man-eating to be the motherly type.  Dakota has always had to be at her mother's beck and call. Making her business more of and expertise from all the practice dealing with her mother and her other "family".
Max Carr, recently purchased a home in the Hamptons. The home has been in the Hale family for generations. Dakota's uncle sold it, in spite of her Aunt Mimi's and her mother's approval. Aunt Mimi plans on making Max pay for taking it out of the family.
The chemistry between Dakota and Max is felt from the start but Dakota has a firm rule of not mixing pleasure and business in that nature.
I loved how the author Laura Moore made you feel the emotions. Making the emotions believable to the storylines.
This would make a good weekend read or a beach read, it has humor, romance, and drama all rolled into one.
Thank You to NetGalley and Ballantine for an advanced copy for an honest review.

this is me....

When I was growing up, in a small town in Kansas, Saturdays were the days I looked forward to.   My mom would take me with her to the beauty parlor, I would venture across the street to the library. As you would walk into the two story old brick building, the smell of history would waft up as the door would swoosh open and closed.  A faint smell of mold or mildew, mixed in with the other mysterious smells were like a comfortable pair of shoes I would slip into. The librarian, Miss Jane Blades, always welcomed each and every patron with a "Good Morning" and when she seen it was me, she would just smile.  When I was the younger girl, 2nd or 3rd grade, she would have books picked out for me based on the level she knew I could read.  As I got older she had projects for me to do, in case I got bored, or too loud, but mainly it was to make me feel special.  The two story building, made of brick, was like my castle.  Tucked in the wooden shelves, we...

The main one being where she and her five-year old daughter, Skye, are going to live. A chance meeting with the charismatic Dr. Marsden changes all that. A Perfect Summer Read ~ 5 Star Read

Becc was a good girl. A dedicated student. Aspiring reporter. Always where she was supposed to be. Until a secret affair with the charming Cal one summer in college cost her everything she held dear: her journalism dreams; her relationship with her best friend, Eric; and her carefully imagined future. Now Becc's  past is front and center as she travels up the scenic California coast to a wedding--with a man she has seen in a decade. As each mile flies by, Becc can't help but  feel the thrilling push and pull of  memories, from the infinite nights at beach bonfires and lavish boat parties to secret movie sessions. But the man beside her is not so eager to re-create history. And  as the events of that heartbreaking summer come into view, Becc must decide if those dazzling hours they once shared are worth fighting for or if they're lost forever. I thoroughly enjoyed the character of Becc. I, at times, could identify with her as I was at that juncture of lea...
