The Grave Tender by Eliza Maxwell You won't want to put it down.

Eliza Maxwell

A chilling psychological suspense novel, The Grave Tender, explores the dark boundaries people cross to save loved ones and the limits of family bonds tested by the deepest of betrayals.

Endless questions from a shadow-filled East Texas childhood haunt Hadley Dixon. People said her mother, Winnie, was never quite right, but with one single, irreparable act, life as Hadley knew it was shattered. The aftershocks of that moonlit night left her reeling, but the secrets and lies had started long before.

When a widowed and pregnant Hadley returns years later, it's not the safe harbor she expects. The mysteries surrounding a local boy's disappearance remain, and the townspeople still whisper about Hadley's strange and reclusive Uncle Eli-whispers about a monster in their midst.

But Hadley's father and grandmother, the cornerstones of everything safe in her world, avoid her questions. If Hadley stays here, will she be giving her children the family they need or putting their lives in danger?

The hunt for answers takes a determined Hadley deep into the pine forests, in search for sunlight that will break through the canopy of lies long enough to reveal the truth.

Wow, what can I say?!?  Well, let's start that once I got started I could not put the book down, well actually my kindle.  I had read that someone thought there should have been a subject disclaimer for the sensitive material in parts of the book. My thoughts, for some yes but I kinda expect it, in thrillers, for there to be some subject matter that might make some a little squeamish or uncomfortable.

The transitions between the past and the present didn't feel disjointed, they flowed smoothly as if you were in Hadley's mind as she went through them.

Without giving spoiler's all I can say is if you like the southern gothic feel, in a thriller then you most likely will find The Grave Tender will fit into the notch.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

this is me....

When I was growing up, in a small town in Kansas, Saturdays were the days I looked forward to.   My mom would take me with her to the beauty parlor, I would venture across the street to the library. As you would walk into the two story old brick building, the smell of history would waft up as the door would swoosh open and closed.  A faint smell of mold or mildew, mixed in with the other mysterious smells were like a comfortable pair of shoes I would slip into. The librarian, Miss Jane Blades, always welcomed each and every patron with a "Good Morning" and when she seen it was me, she would just smile.  When I was the younger girl, 2nd or 3rd grade, she would have books picked out for me based on the level she knew I could read.  As I got older she had projects for me to do, in case I got bored, or too loud, but mainly it was to make me feel special.  The two story building, made of brick, was like my castle.  Tucked in the wooden shelves, we...
